Clinical Effects of Pyrisuccideanol Dimalate(MOREX^(¢ç)) in Patients with Dementia





Abstract
Dementia is a progressive disease which an individual losses his or her general cognitive functions to impair his or her ability to maintain social relationships.
With increase in population of elderly, increased toxins due to modern industrialization, abuse and overuse of many harmful drugs all have contributed to development of this disease. Therefore, in both social and medical aspects, this disease of dementia has become very important matter in modern society.
Early symptoms of dementia are defects in memory, concentration and attention, and these are important due to decrease in concentration choline acetyltransferase and its product acetylcholine. In hope of improving this condition, many have tried to develop substances that activity of choline in the brain of dementic patient.
One of this drug, Morex have been successfully used in the treatment of these patient. The exact action mechanism of Morex is not well known but it is known as the precursor for choline and it will improve the ability in memory, concentration, and general cognitive function as well as antidepressive actions in these patients. This study was carried out to test the clinical effect and safety of Morex in dementic patient of neurologic ward.
